Yes, I'm the one that had the Cairn. Lily lived to the ripe old age of 17 and before her, I had Emmy Lou :) I've owned Cairns (or they've owned me) for most of my life!
I haven't gotten another one yet - my husband and I now share a small place with his two older cats. They are very sweet and I've gotten really attached to them.
Have Maggie and/or Louie ever been around a cat? If so, how did they behave?
Maggie and louie have never been around cats - I'm allergic. I'm actually allergic to dogs too, but the Cairns don't have dander so I'm good. My guess is maggie would want to play because she is such a sweet dog, and louie would be curious at first, then ignore the cat. I've never taught them to chase anything so they generally accept everybody and all animals.
